TOURIST PLACES

ECOLOGICAL PARK “MUNDO AMAZÓNICO”

It is a center of environmental and interpretation ethnobotanical considered as a tourist attraction, whose aim is the conservation and contemplation of the Amazon's natural and cultural wealth, this space seeks to create an environmental education for the population through a fun, interactive and unforgettable experience with the nature of the region due have direct contact with it. The aim of this park is to highlight the importance of protecting the jungle and aquatic ecosystem of the Amazon.

This visit is accompanied by 5 tours (approximately 35 minutes per route):

· BOTANIC GARDEN: where you can find the largest collection of Amazonian plants in the department by walking through park trails accompanied with native environmental interpreters.
·       THE AMAZON TEA HOUSE: here you can taste the Amazon tea, besides knowing the manufacture, use and healing properties of different plants and native fruits.

·      TRADITIONAL GAMES: you can learn and play traditional games such as bow & arrow and blow piping.

·      AQUARIUM Here you can find closely and personal with over 30 different species of fish like the Piraña, Macana, Carahuasu and many more, is a wonderful place because is the first and only center that offers the observation of exotic fish in the Amazon.




   ·  JUNGLE TRIPS: You will have direct contact with nature by hiking through the tropical rainforest of the Amazon.




   

      MONKEY ISLAND: This island is located 30 minutes from Leticia. Here are a variety of monkeys (approximately 5,000 monkeys live in the islands), reptiles and birds. It is a wonderful space in which you can make direct contact with this type of species, plus you can feed it, play, learn and interact with them. In addition, you can view the beautiful scenery, climb trees, and make boating in lakes and more.





      THREE BORDERS RESTAURANT
    It is a very famous restaurant because of its location, is located on the border between Colombia, Peru and Brazil. Its specialty is food from the Amazon River, especially the pirarucú, which is the second freshwater fish world's largest, this fish is served as a type of kibble or nuggets of delicious fish this is why it has become something typical to eat here. You can also eat crab and other related species.

    
      TABATINGA (Brazil)

     Is the twin town of Leticia, but the Brazilian side, is just a ten minute drive. It is located in the extreme west of the Amazon along the Amazon River. West of this is the triple border with Brazil-Colombia-Peru. This city is ideal for shopping of chocolates or shoes because are very economical.


SANTANDER PARK/ PARROTS PARK 


      It is one of the most important parks of Leticia and one of the best sites known and frequented by locals and tourists, whose main attraction is the deafening chirping of thousands of parrots that arrive at dusk to find a place to sleep in the branches of poma rose trees. In this park there are also a source around the center and a recreational area with soccer field and basketball court, and a small lake.
